Museum School to get DeKalb County Charter
DeKalb County's School Board has voted to offer The Museum School a one-year charter to cover the upcoming 2011-2012 school year. During that school year we will be working with the county toward the goal of crafting a five-year charter plan that meets the approval of both The Museum School and the county school board.
We are extremely excited about this development and look forward to operating as a DeKalb County charter school. The change in status from a state-chartered school to a county-chartered school will not affect the school's day-to-day operations. We will open our doors on Aug. 1, as planned, for our second year of operation.
We offer sincere thanks to all of the parents, staff and community supporters who signed our Online Petition and wrote letters to the DeKalb School Board during the past month. Tremendous community involvement is one of the things that makes The Museum School a fantastic public school.
